| Hair loss is not caused by frequent shampooing, poor circulation or wearing hats and helmets. Although there are many potential causes of hair loss, including diet, disease and the use of certain medications, the most common form of hair loss--Androgenetic Alopecia (male and female pattern baldness)--accounts for nearly 95% of all hair loss. In both men and women, pattern baldness results from a combination of genetic predisposition and hormones. As hair loss progresses, hair follicles affected by hormones (which had previously produced healthy hair), begin to produce thinner, weaker hairs. Eventually, these miniaturized follicles produce only fine, almost invisible hairs. | After hair transplantation surgery, small crusts form on the grafts, which are shed approximately 10-14 days after the procedure. The transplanted hair seen above the scalp will initially be shed; however, the roots will remain dormant for approximately 6-12 weeks, after which you should notice new hairs beginning to grow.
